WHAT DO WE DO
At Turning Over Pages OG, the multi-sensory approach of Orton-Gillingham (OG) is incorporated throughout all instructional approaches. Based in Langford, BC – serving the Greater Victoria, BC area. I provide OG therapeutic tutoring for individuals facing difficulties with reading, spelling, and writing.
The OG approach engages learners through visual, auditory, and kinesthetic lessons designed specifically for the learning style of the learner. Delivery is paced to the needs of each individual, taking them step-by-step from basic concepts that progress to more complex language functions. The Orton-Gillingham approach has been widely adopted by educators, particularly those working with learners who have dyslexia. It has been effective in improving reading and language skills by providing a systematic and supportive framework for learning. While it was initially developed for individuals with dyslexia, its principles and techniques have also proven useful for teaching literacy skills to all students despite learning differences.
** 2025 / 2026 school year – Accepting new students, contact for available session times
Key features of the Orton-Gillingham approach include:
Structured and Sequential
Lessons follow a structured and sequential order, building on previously learned concepts in a systematic manner.
Multi-sensory Instruction
Orton-Gillingham uses multiple senses (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic/tactile) to teach reading.
Individualized and Diagnostic
Instruction is tailored to the specific needs of each learner, with ongoing assessment to track progress and adapt teaching accordingly.
